Pinterest for Real Estate Agents

Pinterest

Homes & Neighborhoods of New Orleans

Pinterest grew exponentially over the last few years and by far the fastest social network that attracts over 10-million unique viewers in America each month and growing. The platform allows users to visit your Pinterest Board and bookmark your pins they find interesting, which includes pictures, video and links.  I can’t think of a better tool for real estate agents to create and actively use in their content media.

Many broker shops and real estate agents have set up Pinterest boards to share their listings with would-be home buyers; it’s the prefect platform, extremely simple to use, and it works. Whenever I’m visiting my Google Analytics account I see more traffic from Pinterest that any other social media outlet, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+.

I first began using Pinterest and wasn’t sure how I was going to include it with my social media and watched others for a long time before it clicked how to use the platform to its fullest potential on my blog.  Now I have multiple uses and always finding more.

Today’s Pinterest has become a centerpiece of my blog. I use it to pin links outside my network; save links I come across and want to use in future posts. Most of all, I’m using it as an application on my blog to showcase property listings

Home buyers can easily locate a listing they want to see or find out more information by saving a listing to their Pinterest board, and that’s the magic of Pinterest. It’s an easy way to share and just about everyone it taking advantage of its functionality.

Below are a few tips on increasing your visibility on Pinterest and growing your online presence:

  1. Include Pins in Your Newsletter– Use the power of email to fill your subscriber’s inbox with pins from Pinterest in your newsletter. Include either a property photo with a link to your Pinterest board, so when the user clicks on the image, they will be taken to your board as well as any other properties you have listed.
  2. Utilize Popular Boards– There are millions of boards on Pinterest and many are addressing all kinds of interesting real estate topics. Take some time to research the most popular boards and use those as your marketing strategy. Not only do those boards generate more traffic, but most serious home buyers will be looking there. You also have a good chance of being re-pinned in one of these boards.
  3. Create a Pinterest Board– If you don’t already have one, make one for your business. Using a Pinterest Board to post your listings, ideas and things you like will get more people talking and sharing your listings. Doing this will, in-turn helps your other boards boost their popularity.
  4. Size Photos Appropriately– Be sure that the images you are using on the site are at least 400 pixels wide. This will keep Pinterest from automatically re-sizing your photo and it prevents a poor quality picture.
  5. Use Keyword-Rich File Names– Be sure you use keywords when saving the picture. Pinterest will use the file name for the Pin’s description, if you haven’t created one.
