Furthermore, the S King St/Kalakaua Ave area is very unique in that it has one of the highest proportions of one, two, or no bedroom real estate of any neighborhood in America. Most neighborhoods have a mixture of home or condominiums and apartment sizes from small to large, but here the concentration of studios and other small living spaces is at near-record heights. With 91.8 percent of the real estate here of this small size, this most assuredly is a notable feature that makes this neighborhood unique, along with just a handful of other neighborhoods in the U.S. that share this characteristic.

One of the most interesting things about the S King St/Kalakaua Ave area is that it has a greater concentration of residents who live alone than most all neighborhoods in America. With 53.8 percent of the households here made up of people living alone and that’s a larger proportion of people living alone than in 98.1 percent of the neighborhoods in America.

In the S King St/Kalakaua Ave neighborhood, walking to work is a real option for many. In fact, walking to and from work is the chosen way to commute for 20.4 percent of residents here.  Get ready to put on your walking shoes if you move here! Also, more people ride the bus in this neighborhood each day to get to work than 96.1 percent of U.S. neighborhoods.

Some areas are more cohesiveness than others. While other neighborhoods feel like a collection of strangers who just happen to live near each other. Sometimes this comes down to not only the personalities of the people in a place, but how long people have been together in an area. An interesting thing about the rootedness of people in the S King St/Kalakaua Ave area is that it has a greater percentage of residents born in another country  at 44.1 percent than are found in 95.9 percent of all U.S. neighborhoods.

Other residents here are employed in manufacturing and laborer occupations at 18.4 percent and 9.4 percent in clerical, assistant, and tech support occupations.

In the S King St/Kalakaua Ave area, residents most commonly identify their ethnicity or ancestry as Asian at 73.2 percent. There are also a number of people of German ancestry at 4.7 percent and residents who report Puerto Rican roots at 1.1 percent.. Other important languages spoken here include Japanese at 9.4 percent, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese.
